Happy New Year!

Have a wonderful 2008! Happy New Year! I hope the New Year brings you happiness, health

and that you keep every one of your resolutions.

Well, I hit the Sweat goal! I'm just over 90k now. I'll still be writing on the WIP but I'm also going to be concentrating on revising the finished manuscripts for submission soon.

I'll be submitting them as soon as I get them cleaned and polished.

Lately I've had an overflow of new ideas. Clear and exciting, those ideas make me want to drop what I'm doing and start on that story. I love those kind of ideas, but I have to just take notes on the idea and get back to what I'm doing. I know that I already have enough stories in the works and usually the idea needs time to grow, details to solidify.

Two very hunky men to inspire some great writing or maybe a festive holiday fantasy!

4293 words so far this week! I'm under 3k away from my Sweat goal!

I've mainly been working on Vampire's Witch this week and I'm liking the way things are going so far. I'm also working on the rewrites to Guarded Beginnings. It's slow going, but I'm making progress.

And the total is...

I did better this week. I've only started today's writing and I've written 3974 words. I feel good about what's been done. I'm going to have a short week. I really like the direction Making Magic is going even though it's the story that has the least done on it.

My 90k go is in sight and I'm getting excited.

Got distracted earlier tonight. I'm addicted to Project Runway and I'm glad I didn't miss tonight! It was absolutely great.

It's cold, but I'm still sweating.

Since the last check-in it's been a pretty good week. I wrote 4741 words since Wednesday and am still working on todays writing. But not all of it's new words. I had to restart Making Magic, but I'm so much happier with it now than I was and I've managed to get back to the point I was at and a little bit more.

I'm still working on the edits of Guarded Beginnings, but am happy with the way things are going with that.

Coming up probably later tonight: Inspiring hunks!

A little good, a little bad...

Still sweating. I wrote a total of 3539 words since Sunday's total. A little under what I'd like to have done since then.

Overall I'm happy with the total. You know there's a but here. But something about Making Magic has been bothering me for days. I'm only in the beginning of it but it feels wrong. I think I may have to rework this beginning and start over. It may be just that it's starting too slowly and I need to get into the real story quickly. Some thinking is definitely in order.

An interview with Marcus Castillo from Vampire's Witch

This guys character has been giving me just a little bit of trouble and I decided to try interview him. I'd like you to meet Marcus Castillo, the hero from Vampire's Witch.

First, Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Marcus Castillo. As you know, I'm a vampire. I head the Security team for a firm here in Dallas, but technically I work the Vampire Council.

So what do you do for the Council?

I hunt rogues...and deal with the younger vampires. They can sometimes forget that the world doesn't know about us in the joy of the moment.

Younger vampires, do you mean converted humans or child vampires?

(His mouth pulled down into a distinct frown and he leaned forward.)Lady, whatever you think, we're not dead or undead or whatever you want to call it. Of course, we have children. because of our longevity our females aren't fertile as often as human females.

(Just to let you know, when he says lady, it's not a compliment or even a polite address. That growling tone leaves no doubt.) I didn't mean any offense. I just haven't met any of them yet. I was just curious. Uhm... Now that you've met Serena what do you think of her?

He smiled slowly and sat back in his chair. A very interesting witch.

You find her more than interesting, but what caught your interest first?

Well, aside from the fact that she seems to be hiding something, and I will find out what that is, she's just too neat, every hair in place.

What's wrong with the fact that her hair is neat and her clothes look pressed and clean?

She's too controlled and I never said I didn't like it, just that it interested me. Seeing her all dressed up with her suit neat and tidy, make-up perfect, just makes me want to see what it takes to muss her up.

Okay, now you have to hunt a rogue in this book. Why is that?

He's insane.

I'm sure he must be to go up against you, your team of vampires and the Protectorate. But do you have any idea why he's doing this?

Like I said, he's insane. He knows some magic and thinks no one has the right to tell him what to do.

Hard question time. Serena's going to be hunting that vampire with you and your job is to get that vampire no matter what it takes. What would you do if it came down to a choice between catching your rogue or saving Serena?

He bares his fangs and puts his hand on the desk as he leans forward. It's not going to come down to that. She's not going to get hurt. Do you understand?

Writing the story is my job, stick to your rogues or I might consider renaming you. How do you like Marion?

(Marcus growls.)

Thank you so much for stopping by, Marcus. I'll get back to you if I have any more questions.

A day late, but I wrote 4996 words from Wednesday through Sunday, but it's been a productive week. Finished up edits and sent them in. Close Contact is going great and I'm working on my newsletter for this month. I should be finished in the next few days and have it out too.

Another post, a character interview, coming soon.
