70 day sweat comes to an end & update

The Seventy Day Sweat ended yesterday and I just made my goal of 80k. I'm glad I made it and the challenge was great. For a while during the challenge making the daily word count wasn't easy. I'd gotten out of the habit of writing everyday. I'd also gotten into the habit of spending too much time picking the exact right word for what I was trying to get across.

I still want to use the absolute best word, but I'll be going through the WIP at least twice before I submit it. The challenge forced me to put the pickiness to where it should be--in the revision process.

I'm still making progress on both stories, but they've been pushed to the back burner for a few days so that I can get this short story finished. I know I've said it before, but short stories just seem a little harder than other stories to me. If I don't keep a tight guard against it, the story will grow out of the word count I need.

I'm more than halfway through the story I hope to submit for the Caveman anthology. So without any major disasters, I should get it to them before the deadline. I've just got to come up with a title for it. : )

Updates and, new cover

I've got about 1k to go to reach my 80k goal for the Sweating with Sven challenge. Both stories I'm working on are keeping me very busy. Lisia's Journey is really growing. It had much more story than I expected it to have. I'm also working on a story that I hope to submit for the Caveman anthology, but I don't know if I'll finish it.
I've been trying to update the look on my blog and myspace in between writing binges. I succeeded with this blog. My Space there's just so much choice available. It might take me a few more days to get that done.

I forgot the last time I was here to post my latest cover. It's absolutely gorgeous and I love it.

WIP update

I've been working mainly on Lisia's Journey and Primal Encounter in the last few weeks, but I have gotten just a little done on Guarded beginnings. I know where I'm going. It's just finding the time to work on it. Lisia's Journey is over the word count that I'd thought it would be, but I'm definitely not complaining about that. I love the way the story is going and that the characters are giving me so much to write about.

The 70 Day Sweat has been good for me. I had been writing, but it felt harder to get the words onto the computer, as if I actually had to pull them out. And story ideas seemed a little stagnant. Now that I'm writing every day (and enjoying it very much--thank you Alison and the other sponsors behind the challenge), the ideas come much more freely and even more detailed. I'm not quite finished with the 80k I hope to finish before the end of the challenge. I don't know if I'll make it to the 50k mark on Primal Encounter, but I'm going to work on it.

The motivation has been great. Getting back into the habit of getting the words out no matter if they don't seem absolutely perfect has been wonderful. I get so much more done and I'm not so stressed about it.

Latest happenings and pictures

So as you can see by the little meters on the side of blog, Lisia's Journey and Primal Encounter are coming along nicely. I'm not even going to think about the rewrites and edits before it will be ready for submission. I'm just concentrating on writing the stories as they come to me. I'm in the middle of Primal Encounter and Lisia's Journey and am having to resist the urge to start another story.

These are my two new kittens, although the pictures are a few weeks old. They're cute, but they can get in the way. Typing isn't easy with these two. They like to sit on the mouse or lay right in front of the keyboard. Sometimes they'll decide to investigate the keyboard as I type. I'll get a few numbers or a series of enters and look down and find one of their little paws on the keyboard.
